An Interview With Jaclyn Stuard
Where do you find inspiration? Usually, inspiration comes from music or seeing something, be it a photograph or an article of clothes, that draws me into a certain type of pose or the need to draw someone in that piece of clothing. Inspiration can really come from anywhere. Sometimes it's just an emotion or a twinge of nostalgia, or just browsing on netflix. What's your studio playlist? I listen to a bunch of oldies when I work or a wide variety of pop. My favorites to listen to when I work are Roy Orbison and No Doubt. Some of my playlists on Spotify:Oldies: https://play.spotify.com/user/12120736463/playlist/27NMrwyq1EgbMBFGNsvruaNon-Oldies (well, there's some in there): https://play.spotify.com/user/12120736463/playlist/2qzYhrCJr1filRskJDcovEWhere is your studio? My studio is my apartment, most of the time. Sometimes it's my in-laws' house too. Or at convention tables :PHow do you get yourself out of a creative rut? I reach out to my FB fans or Insta-fans and say "what should I draw" or I simply turn to my loving husband and he presents me with something challenging to inspire me to think outside of my normal comfort zone. It's how a lot of my favorite pieces came to be.Who are your creative idols? Naoko Takeuchi, of course. I also enjoy Michael Turner, Greg Horn, and my DA-obsessions of Artgerm and Loish. Warren Louw is high on the list too.Describe your work in five words. Anime, Comic, and Realism Combined.Any additional comments? These questions really poked at my brain! Ha ha! Been a while since I really focused on what makes me tick as an artist. Thankful for the opportunity to share what I do with more people.Links:
