Merboston Plush: At the Starting Line
2017 is the Year of Merboston!
You may be wondering what in the world a "Merboston" might be. Merboston is a mermaid Boston Terrier, and she's one of the original three Norfolk Merdogs that I designed in 2013. Merboston has similar traits of many land-dwelling Boston Terriers- she's either going a million miles an hour OR taking a nap in the sunshine. There's really no middle ground, and we're okay with that! Just look at that adorable squishy face! (Merboston also gets a little gassy if she eats too much, so make sure you don't swim behind her!)In February, I started working with my manufacturer on the Merboston plush prototype.
We had to go through a few revisions, but a couple weeks ago we reached the final stages. The prototype is currently on its way to me. I'm hoping I'll be able to give it the green light once I see it in person. Here are some photos sent to me by the manufacturer:
I'll be launching a Kickstarter for Merboston in May of this year. As with Merpug and Mercorgi, I will need your help for the Merboston plush to exist since plush production is so expensive.
What is Kickstarter?
Kickstarter is a crowd-funding website that helps small business owners like me achieve huge projects. With Kickstarter, you're basically pre-ordering a plush. If I reach enough pre-orders then Merboston will be produced. However, Kickstarter is an "all or nothing" crowd-funding platform, so if we can't reach 100% funding Merboston can't be made.

Merboston will be my third Kickstarter project. In 2015, I launched a project for Merpug Plush and it finished at 126% funding. Then in 2016, I ran a Mercorgi Plush Kickstarter which reached 193% funding!! With the high amount of competition on Kickstarter, reaching full funding is very rare. I will be forever grateful to every single one of my Backers for helping me reach full funding on both of those Kickstarters! It's always a roller coaster of emotions running a crowd-funding project, and I really hope Merboston can make it!!
